Origin

Bodegas Garay, is run by a couple, Ana and Mario, who embark on a project that arises a bit by chance, in La Palma del Condado (Huelva).

They bought a 5,000 square meter vineyard, with about 1,500 vines more than half a century old. The previous owner sold the grapes to make must , something very characteristic of the area, they thought that the vines would not be useful because they were so old, but that was the best, centennial vines, with very deep roots, that feed on the best minerals on earth. 

The beginnings were difficult, since they did everything in a very artisanal way, stomping on the grapes with their feet, a great work, which they carried out with a lot of effort.

La Zalema

La Zalema, is an extraordinary raw material and El Condado, is its natural habitat , an exquisite variety, of which they have managed to do better work and better quality each time. They harvest at the exact moment, selecting the best clusters, making the wine ferment with its own yeasts, with the native ones and with others, of equal quality.

Organic wines

Mario Garay and Ana González, the creators of the winery, work with a natural approach, without filtering, clarifying or Add sulfites to your wines. His work has been recognized by Alice Feiring, one of the main promoters of natural wine internationally. Feiring has included Bodegas Garay in her article "Where Are Natural Wine's Next Frontiers?", as one of the Andalusian wineries to follow closely.
