García de La Jara

García de La Jara is also the project that his three grandchildren started more than 15 years ago, transforming the family farm by the sea into a vineyard, in a red grape vineyard in the land of Manzanilla.

The three of us had been working in the world of wine for years and we shared the dream of preserving the family estate. Wine is our passion and every detail of our project, different and transgressive, but also artisanal and familiar, is a symbol and a message.

The vineyard

From our vineyard we can smell the sea and hear the waves and the boats when they return from fishing. In our vineyard, of just over 1.5 hectares, just a few meters from the sea, nests of birds and chameleons coexist, but we also use appropriate cultivation techniques to maintain a balance of production, to favor the aromas and characters that differentiate our wine.

We have recently begun to vinify on the estate itself. In a very artisanal way, selecting the grapes and enhancing the aromas of our mix of varieties, with our own viticulture practices.

With the varieties we also We took a risk, we wanted varieties that would express themselves freely in the Atlantic climate by the sea. We choose varieties that work well on the other side of that enormous Atlantic.

Perhaps the “Jarochos”, those who repopulated part of the New World and came from our area, brought vine stocks and we wanted them to return here, as a continuous game of before and after. Now, the tradition that we want to preserve and the small “countercurrent” that we have chosen with this red.

The wine

This wine is the result of a meticulous and careful production process. The grapes are harvested by hand and at night to prevent oxidation and maintain their original aromas. In the winery, each cluster is carefully selected to guarantee the quality of the wine. Aging in French oak barrels adds new aromas and combines the high alcohol content of the wine.

Finally, each bottle matures for several months in the winery to soften its power and refine the tannins Garcia de la Jara is a saline, mineral, powerful wine with a lot of personality.
