Types of Grapes

Not all red wines are the same, as not all rosé, white or red wines have the same flavor, within each one, there is a great variety, but what makes the difference?

The difference in red wines depends largely on the types of grapes used in the production process. That is why at Bodegas Andalucia we want you to know 4 types of grapes to make red wine.

Tempranillo, this grape variety has the same name as the wine and is originally from Spain. The wine is usually dark, light, long-lived and smooth flavored, with aromas of plums, blackberries, raspberries, coffee and smoky touches.

Garnacha, with a mild and slightly spicy flavor, is a warm climate grape, presumed to be native to Spain although it grows quite well in California, Australia and southern France.

Merlot, among its regions, Saint Emillion and Pomerol, in France, and Italian Tuscany stand out, is a fast-ripening grape, producing wines with a high alcohol content with aromas of blackberries, currants and red fruits, and leaves a taste of plums, raisins and mint.

Pinot Noir, its symphony of aromas includes damp leather, grapefruit, strawberries, berries and vanilla, is a grape that grows best in cold climates and its wines are among the most elegant in the world.

Each wine has its particular touch and that touch is generally given by its grapes. At Andalusian wineries we want you to know and be able to choose the one that best suits your tastes, which is why we have the best and widest variety of wines.
