Bodegas de Andalucía, from the best vineyards in Spain

Wine is one of the oldest known drinks, although although the production of grape drinks dates back to 6000 and 5000 BC, it is estimated, according to archaeological studies, that humans began to enjoy its discovery in the bronze age.

History of wine

The history of wine goes hand in hand with the history of humanity, in fact, there are many important historical events in which wine is shown; ancient texts, the wineries, and the landscape, among others, are evidence of its presence in the life of human beings.

The beginning

Wine was probably the first alcoholic beverage known to mankind, it can be deduced that the discovery of wine could have occurred by chance, surely, someone left some grapes in some container, these fermented, and then someone tasted the resulting liquid and, eureka.

The delicious drink that seems to have always accompanied man had been created; in addition, the vine or grapevine, presents a great facility of adaptation, factor that without a doubt favored its expansion.

The vineyards and the classical world

In Greece and Rome, the gods of wine were highly revered for their intoxicating and aphrodisiacal powers; in the classical world wine was associated with love and carnal enjoyment, but also with tranquility, rest and relief.

Wine has been introduced and integrated into the culture of all the civilizations in which it has been present, so it has served as a form of cultural expansion: for example, the Romans planted vineyards throughout Mediterranean Europe.

There is even a legend of how Dionysus, the Greek god of wine (known in Rome as Banco) conquered Asia as far as India, accompanied by an army of musicians and dancers who danced and offered wine.

Wine culture in Spain:

A widespread social custom is that of drinking wine accompanied by tapas in bars or taverns; the product is known by the name of Spanish wine as well as the social event that accompanies inaugurations, or similar events that include a toast.

Andalucía

As it happened more than 100 years ago, the eyes are turned to the vineyard, the vine recovers its voice and the winemakers dare to make musts (that's how young wines are known) from grapes, or finos without head, that is, without adding alcohol to raise the grade and create the right conditions for the development of the flower yeast so characteristic of many wines of the region.

At Bodegas de Andalucía, we do not consider wine as an alcoholic beverage, but as a unique bottled experience; we represent that wine lineage that enjoys great international reputation, and that has made wine a worldwide symbol when it comes to Spain.
