Luis Felipe Brandy is made since 1893, from barrels reserved for the Duke of Montpensier, son of King Luis Felipe I of France.
The legend of LUIS FELIPE begins in 1893 with the discovery in an isolated corner of a winery in La Palma del Condado of oak barrels containing an aged brandy different from anything known up to then.
Endowed with a remarkable density of color and aromas, in addition to a soft flare favored by the passage of time. Who discovered it, a winemaker seasoned in winemaking and a good taster, said in amazement that he had never tasted anything like it with exceptional qualities that distinguished it from everything known then, whether it was made in France or Jerez.
Those almost forgotten barrels were marked with the mention LUIS FELIPE for having been reserved for Don Antonio de Orleans, Duke of Montpensier and son of the King of France Luis Felipe I, who lived in the Seville palace of San Telmo until 1890.
Since its discovery more than a century ago, LUIS FELIPE brandy has maintained its magnificent range of excellence thanks to artisan breeding and very limited production.
LUIS FELIPE ages through the traditional process of “soleras” and “criaderas” in American oak boots arranged in “cachones” or “andanas”, one on top of the other.
The oldest distillate is found in the boots closest to the ground, called “soleras”, from which small quantities are extracted for bottling, without emptying them completely.
The content removed is replaced with younger distillate from the upper level boots, called “criaderas”, in which it has remained for years.
