With his own initials, Antonio Barbadillo Mateos, from the Sanluqueña family Barbadillo, since 2010 has been selecting and bottling small bags of manzanillas en rama normally with two editions per year, one in spring and one in autumn. These latest editions come from Bodegas Yuste, a winery with the best manzanilla and amontillado soleras. A long-aged chamomile, intense and with marked notes of flower yeast. Delicious.
History
Member of the extensive saga of the Barbadillo, winemakers based in Sanlúcar de Barrameda since 1821, Antonio Barbadillo Mateos decided to launch his own project in 2010, after having grown and worked in the family home for several decades.
He does not have his own winery but rather selects boots that catch his attention “for their directness” in Sanluqueña wineries and bottles the wines in seasonal bags under the Sacristía ABbrand. He chose that name as a sign of personal commitment and quality: with his initials, AB, and with the name known in the area for the best wines from each winery, those from “sacristía”.< /p>
Manzanilla Sacristy AB
Antonio's first wine was themanzanilla Sacristía AB, a selection of old soleras with about8-10 years of age. aged under a veil of florthat is bottled raw, without filtering, in a 37.5 cl format
This golden and highly concentrated chamomile, the obtained since 2018 from butts that belong to Bodegas Orleans, in Sanlúcar. Until the 2018 release, the wine was in Francisco Yuste casks, a company that has recently established itself in the sector but has acquired historical soleras such as that of Conde de Aldama and wineries such as Argüeso. The first soleras that Antonio Barbadillo selected for his Sacristy AB came from Sánchez Ayala, a warehouseman from the Barrio Bajo de Sanlúcar from which the Navazos Team also sourced some of their legendary manzanillas.
