The winery, founded in 2002, is located on the El Pujío Estate, in the municipality of Puente Genil (Córdoba). It rises on a rocky hill from which the Anzur River valley can be seen, always guarded by the Almohad Tower of the same name. A building of Andalusian character that has a central patio that acts as the nucleus of the entire winery.
From the moment we started planting, we knew that the land of “Cerro Colodro” kept all the potential of which outstanding wines are made, those that are distinguished by their marked personality. A special corner of a unique terroir. Plot of 4 ha located 420 m above sea level with clay loam soils and abundance of limestone rocks between which the roots penetrate. The “cerro colodro” of finca el pujío supports an extreme microclimate with a great temperature range between day and night, with plenty of sun and little rain
during the ripening period. These conditions are excellent for obtaining special wines with a unique typicity.
It has a selection of bunches in the vineyard, and of grains in the selection table. Manual harvest first thing in the morning in boxes of 18 kg. Subsequently, it has a period of alcoholic fermentation, keeping a careful control of the temperature and pump-overs. After malolactic fermentation, it spends 10 months in French and American oak barrels playing with different toasts and coopers. It remains in reductive aging for at least 10 months for its refinement and roundness.
Deep garnet color with ruby rims. Impressive range of balsamic and smoked aromas along with ripe fruit and spicy nuances. Its warm passage through the mouth, once again highlights the intensity of the fruit. Its great concentration and finesse, together with its sweet tannins, make its finish long and pleasant, resulting in an extremely complex and elegant wine as a whole.
Ideal to accompany red meats, small game and Iberian sausages.
