Solo Palomino wine is a white wine, which is made from 100% Palomino grapes. This organic wine is a wine from Seville.

The first words that I find right at the moment I enter the Bodegas Gonzalez Palacios in Lebrija (Seville) are: "You can't love wine without loving the winery". Once I start my "field trip" to this winery, where I "teach" to enjoy the smell, taste and soul of their wines in the cold and sombre ship full of American oak boots with an average age of more than 50 Years, they discover to me the truly important part of this winery: the lands next to the marshes of the lower Guadalquivir, the place where their wines originate, on the banks of the river and a few kilometres from the sea, a microclimate perfect for wine aging.

You can tell this while serving:  A curious episode of "Solo" is that it is the same white wine that travelled in the Victoria in 1519 from Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz) to give the first round the world, the same wine that had the privilege of occupying a third of the cargo They traded with the Indies, the one mentioned by William Shakespeare in several of his works or the one that filled the 3,000 boots that the fleet of Francis Drake was taken to England after the sacking of Cadiz in 1587.

This white wine of the time was characterized by the absence of "heading", a practice introduced by the English, Irish and Scottish merchants who settled in the Marche de Jerez (to which Lebrija (Seville) belongs, where this wine comes from) in The sixteenth and seventeenth centuries consisting of adding ethyl alcohol to the wine to better preserve the wine during the trip and to stabilize it.

Bodegas Gonzáles Pañacios has rescued this white wine without heading, hence they call it "the wine before the English", taking up the old way of making wine from the area, organic breeding without added alcohol and vintage. It is a mono-varietal made with Palomino grapes and aged under veil in flower for 2 years in centennial American oak boots. "Solo" has already won the silver medal at the prestigious International Wine and Spirits Competition (CINVE) in 2016, as well as 90 points in the Peñín Guide.
