In 1981, on the occasion of the bicentennial of our winery and with our eyes on the new century, a reserve of Cardenal Mendoza was kept to commemorate the arrival of the new millennium. For almost two decades, Cardinal Mendoza Carta Real waited patiently for its bottling and release. We use the "surname" Carta Real to remember a dinner in which Sanchez Romate wines and brandy were served at the Royal Palace of Madrid, on December 2, 1900.
At that time, Juan Manuel Sanchez y Gutierrez de Castro, owner of the winery, was Minister to King Alfonso XII, being awarded the title of Duke of Algeciras for the success of his services in the organization of the International Conference of Algeciras del year 1906.
Cardenal Mendoza Carta Real: a unique brandy with an elegant aroma of old wood with traces of sweet raisin and plum, as well as a perfectly round, smooth and long-lasting taste, make up exceptional characteristics that time has softened and elevated.
