Viña Santa Petronila is an old vineyard from the mid-19th century located at the foot of the emblematic Pago de Macharnudo, in the Jerez Superior area. Like all vineyards, it was used for the rest of the grape harvesting crews, as a storage place for agricultural tools, and some, the largest ones, as a wine press and fermentation cellar, when this was done in barrels and the must was transported to the city's wineries for aging.
Amontillado en Rama Santa Petronila
The Amontillado en Rama Santa Petronila is a testament to the dedication of Viña Santa Petronila to the traditional and artisanal production of fortified wines in the heart of the Marco de Jerez. Presented in a small-format bottle, this amontillado highlights the essence of its small-scale production and the meticulous care of its Palomino vineyard.
Artisanal and Natural Production:
Viña Santa Petronila, the smallest winery in Jerez, produces this amontillado with a focus on natural and environmentally friendly practices. Traditional winemaking and artisanal work in the vineyard result in a wine of authentic and unique character.
En Rama: Unfiltered, Pure Expression:
The Amontillado en Rama Santa Petronila is bottled directly from the cask, without filtering or clarifying, thus preserving its maximum expression and complexity. This "en rama" presentation offers the consumer a unique sensory experience, bringing them closer to the wine as it is in the winery.
Biological and Oxidative Aging:
With an average aging of 10 to 11 years, this amontillado combines an initial phase of biological aging under a veil of flor, which gives it fineness and yeast notes, with a subsequent oxidative aging, responsible for its amber color and its aromas of nuts and wood.
Tasting Notes:
- Color: Amber, not too dark, bright and slightly cloudy.
- Nose: Exuberant, intense and complex, with notes of nuts, fine woods and varnishes.
- Pale: Dry, powerful and with a good mouthfeel, with a sharp character and a long, slightly bitter finish.
Suggested Pairings:
Perfect as an aperitif, this amontillado also pairs perfectly with country stews and roasted meats.
Limited Production:
The small production of this wine is reflected on the back label, which indicates the number of bottles and the year of the corresponding release, adding a touch of exclusivity to this oenological gem.
The Amontillado en Rama Santa Petronila is an invitation to discover the authenticity and passion that define the wines of Jerez made with traditional methods and respect for nature.
