Tetas de la Sacristana is a red wine made from three different varieties of grapes, Merlot, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a wine from Almeria.
Belongs to La Bodega Selección de Vinos de Fondón, from the Alpujarra region of Almería, in the municipality of Fondón, located between Sierra Nevada to the north and Sierra de Gádor to the south. The winery is built on top of an old oil mill in Fuente Victoria that the owners transformed to make wine, and currently still preserve the original mill in a museum dedicated to oil.
This wine is part of the Protected Geographical Indication "Vinos de la Tierra Laujar-Alpujarra".
It is made with a blend of Tempranillo grapes (which remain 12 months in oak barrels), Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (which remain 5 months in French and American oak barrels) in order to preserve its fruity character.
It is a clean and brilliant wine, with very balanced aromas between the shades provided by the aging and the good presence of ripe fruit, we find a tasty wine, with a fluid passage, with good intensity, freshness and character.
It is a wine that has been awarded several prizes both nationally, at the Mezquita awards, and internationally at the Bacchus.
Tell this when serving it: The name Tetas de la Sacristana is often criticized for its irreverence and dubious taste, but it really refers to the plots of land where the vineyards are located.
There are different versions of the reason for this name, and the most reasonable one is the one that talks about a man many years ago who, when contemplating from a high area the prominent hills where nowadays the vineyards are located (normally covered with snow), quickly came to mind the resemblance with a certain part of the body of the sacristan's wife and the priest's mistress, and that is why the area has been known since those times as Tetas de la Sacristana.
