Mirlo Viognier is a white wine, which was chosen in 2015 as the best white wine in the province of Seville. This wine comes from the Sierra Norte of Seville. It is a monovarietal wine which is made with the Viognier grape, whose origin is unknown.
El Mirlo Blanco comes from Sierra Norte de Sevilla (Cazalla de la Sierra), a Natural Park located north of the province of Seville. Its terrain (low and hilly hills with altitudes ranging between 293 and 1058 yards) and its Mediterranean climate of dry and hot summers and mild winters added to an average annual precipitation of 2.85 ounce, give their own character that make this something unique.
It is a single-variety wine elaborated with the variety Viognier, which is somewhat uncertain, although recent genetic studies postulate that the origin of this variety is located in the Rhone and also have revealed that its DNA is very old and shares many characteristics with the Italian varieties Fresia and with the Nebbiolo, both of Piedmont. However, it is difficult to deny their kinship with the Muscateles, since they coincide in several aspects: its aromaticity and the lack of a high acidity. It has a high fruity aroma, with floral notes, and a touch of vanilla. It is cool and silky.
The White Myrtle is a wine from the organic viticulture, as it is harvested manually and the presses of the bunch are soft, and to finish the process is deposited for five months at rest and subsequently bottled.
You can tell this while serving: As a curious fact to know in greater depth the origins and history of this wine as well as its tradition, is that the Viognier grape is a small rarity, phylloxera and problems of production in the world wars almost made it disappear. Today is beginning to resurface and in Spain, this French variety is authorized in the autonomous communities of Andalusia, Balearic Islands, Castilla-La Mancha and Region of Murcia to make wine. The winemaking tradition of the Sierra Norte de Sevilla comes from afar, with the fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth centuries being one of its most splendid moments, when its wines were exported to America and consumed by the people and the nobility, reaching a deserved fame, Collected in books like "Rinconete and Cortadillo" of our universal Miguel de Cervantes, or as in one of the Sonnets of Lope de Vega.
