MoreHuerta de Albalá: a wine with history and tradition
A legacy of centuries
Huerta de Albalá is a winery with a long history that dates back to more than 2,000 years, when the Romans were already cultivating vines in this area. Today, the winery continues to produce high-quality wines with the same passion and dedication as its ancestors.
Technology and tradition, united
At the Huerta de Albalá Winery, there is an excellent mix of new technologies, with the most artisanal winemaking techniques. The Winery has two facilities: One, where fermentation tanks are housed, with a controlled temperature, and another, 5,000 liter truncated conical tanks, made of Allier French oak.
Under the cellar there are 1,600 Allier French oak barrels with a variety of cooperages: 520 barrels from Sylvain, 700 from Mercier and the The remaining 380 distributed among François Frères, Francis, Vicard and Demptos Reserva.
The vines are distributed in 60% of the Syrah variety, 20% of Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and another 10% of Tintilla de Rota. A microclimate, generated by the proximity to the Bornos reservoir and the Sierra de Grazalema, with different types of soil. Good conditions to produce unique wines with personality. Each of the plots is planted, controlled, analyzed, vinified and matured separately, before making a decision on the mixture.
Hot days and cool nights facilitate the levels of phenolic maturity and acidity. The vines receive enough water to not need irrigation, achieving excellent flavor. All the grapes used in Huerta de Albalá wines are harvested by hand in the vineyard that surrounds the winery.
A unique terroir
The Huerta de Albalá vineyards extend over 91 hectares of gentle slopes, at an altitude of 150 meters. The Mediterranean climate, with its hot summers and mild winters, and the calcareous soils of the area, areideal for growing grapes.
