The Cortijo de Jara, is a typical Andalusian agricultural construction, reminiscent of the abundance of Roman villas, in the Jerez countryside. The old barns and warehouses have been used, respecting their original structure. A mix between the traditional and the modern: grape reception system, small barrel cellar, laboratory and bottling and packaging area. Difficult beginnings
In the years 70s and 80s Last century, in Jerez there was an industry, derived from agriculture, creating employment and wealth. The liberalization of markets left a large part of agricultural production in the hands of multinationals and the agricultural policy of the European Union became uncertain.
Something had to be done. We had to take risks to get out of the circle imposed by globalization, which takes away our products at low prices.
15 years ago, we decided to plant some hectares of vineyards, plant olive trees and the farmhouse, which was practically abandoned, was recovered and converted into a nice winery. The entrance gate opens to a large patio, an architecture from the middle of the last century, with the walls covered with bougainvillea, jasmine and virgin vines.
Since the beginning, the search for quality has been our main objective, giving up short-term benefits, to achieve a novel and competitive project.
