The Valdespino winery was acquired in 1999 by the Josë Estévez Winery Group, one of the leaders in the sector with a clear commitment to preserving the origin as the main hallmark of its wines. With 800 hectares of its own vineyard, it is the largest winegrower in Marco de Jerez and Andalusia, which represents 12% of the total D.O. Jerez-Xérèz-Sherry. The firm owns the centenary wineries: Valdespino, Marqués del Real Tesoro and La Guita. Thanks to this firm commitment to the Jerez terroir, José Estévez is the only winery in the Marco that uses 100% raw material from the D.O. Jerez and Manzanilla from Sanlúcar.

The origin of the Valdespino Winery is ancient. The first member of the Valdespino family to be dedicated to the cultivation of vineyards and the raising of Jerez wines was Don Alfonso Valdespino, contemporary of King Alfonso X El Sabio (he fought alongside him in the Reconquest of Jerez de la Frontera from the Arabs in the year 1264). Once the reconquest was over and like the other knights, the King awarded him with the transfer of lands and estates in the city of Jerez, thus beginning the long tradition of the Valdespino linked to Jerez wine.

Although commercial activities had already existed since 1430, the firm A.R. Valdespino was born in 1875. In May 1883 he entered the Royal Order of Suppliers of the Royal House and they have also been suppliers of the Royal House of Sweden since 1932.

The Valdespinos had the foresight to register the term SACRISTÍA as a trademark, and thus they achieved the same legal protection in the registration of trademarks and patents since 1910. Subsequently, other registries have been giving solidity and protection to this brand, which although others now intend to use, it is only Casa Valdespino that has the right to do so.

The Valdespino Winery also produces the Fino Inocente, the only Jerez wine that comes from a single vineyard, in Pago de Macharnudo, and the only one that is still fermented in oak casks of about 500 liters of capacity, now being the normal fermentation in stainless steel tanks up to 50,000 liters. It is surely also the only wine that has 10 criaderas, instead of the maximum 2 or 3 that others currently have.
